If you are interested in working with me, please read the following overview of my approach, philosophy, and some key definitions so you can fully understand the services offered and decide if it is the right fit for you.
My framework for Biophilic Lifestyle Medicine integrates the 3 main tenets of health:
Mind– Foundational health education paired with evidence based behavior change strategies to support the implementation of healthy habits. Optimizing your personal best physiology to allow for maximum life expression and fulfillment.
Body– Developing deeper body awareness through somatic experiencing and guided capacity building exercises. Reclaiming the feeling and sensing body as an equally important intelligence.
Soul– Uncovering the authentic Self underneath cultural conditioning and longstanding patterns driven by dysregulated nervous system states. Awakening our Ecological belonging through adopting a regular Forest Bathing practice and aligning with the natural world and it’s rhythms.
**Ecological belonging is meant to describe the felt sense of connection to the Earth and all living systems with a recognition that we are not separate from nature but necessary participants in something greater. It’s about re-rooting ourselves in place, body, and community to restore wholeness and collaboration with other non human species.**
Knowing what to do for your health is one thing but putting it into practice is another altogether, I get it. As a health coach trained in behavior change and somatic therapies, I help bridge that gap. Soma means “body” in Greek and somatic means “of the body.” My approach addresses the psycho-somatic root causes of health issues, including the effects of stored stress and emotional patterns that may be blocking your progress. I’m trained to recognize nervous system dysregulation and use somatic tools to help restore harmony, supporting your ability to make sustainable lifestyle changes. By using specific techniques we can help alchemize old stories and make room for new healthier habits to take root.
The body is designed to return to balance (homeostasis), but chronic stress often disrupts this natural rhythm. Healing happens in the parasympathetic “rest and digest” state, which is often undervalued in our fast-paced world. When we’re stuck in a stress response, it can lead to pain, burnout, and health challenges. Together, we’ll use health education, nervous system regulation, nature-based practices, and coaching to support your return to balance and well-being.
Another pillar of this work is reconnecting with Nature, both your inner rhythms and the natural world around you. “Biophilia” means love of life and by reclaiming your love for all things that support and sustain life, within you and in your local ecosystem, you tap into the ultimate source of all life which paves the way for optimal health and vitality. Nature provides wisdom that enhances health and aids in the transformational process in a way that cannot be captured with word or science alone. However, some scientifically documented health benefits to a regular nature connection practice, such as forest bathing, include improved immunity, reduced stress, improved cognition, and an enhanced sense of belonging. Nature offers healing that goes beyond the body and taps into your innate vitality, intuition and wisdom deep within.
A Health Coach is not a doctor, therapist, mentor, or consultant. These titles hold certain power and often express a hierarchy of expert who has “all the answers” and powerless obedient client/patient. Coaches stand with the client in an equal cooperative co-creative partnership and help the client identify challenges standing in the way of their goals and supports them in discovering their own answers. Coaches do not view emotions as problems to solve but as a normal natural biproduct in the process of change and growth but will look out for any signs or symptoms that may warrant a referral to a medical professional.
Please note: I am not a therapist. This coaching style is not a substitute for clinical mental health care and is not appropriate for those with severe trauma or mental health concerns unless you’re working concurrently with a licensed professional.
